Monroe County volunteers and supporters joined Jack Davis, independent candidate for U.S. Congress, at the opening of the Davis for Congress campaign office on Ridge Road in Greece Tuesday afternoon.
“This election is a choice between the status quo which the people are not happy with and a new direction for the country,” said Miriam MacBlaine, campaign volunteer. “Jack is not a politician, but a statesman who cares where American is going and cares what the people think.”
Davis introduced himself to the crowd with his trademark line – “I cannot be bought” – and talked about the crucial role Greece will play in the special election scheduled for May 24th. Volunteers have been using the office to run nightly door-to-door canvassing operations in Greece and western Monroe County.
“Greece and Monroe County are essential to turning our country around and putting America back to work,” Davis said. “The people of Monroe County know both parties in Washington have sold us out. They’ve been bought by Wall Street. Rochester was the high-tech capital of the nation, the Silicon Valley of its day, and it’s been destroyed by outsourcing and uncontrolled imports from abroad.”
Davis thanked the volunteers for their support and hard work. His independent campaign earned a place on the ballot after gathering 12,000 signatures on nominating petitions, a first for the 26th Congressional District.
“This election is different, because finally the voters have a choice beyond the two parties. On May 24th, we are going to send a message to Washington: Enough of the politicians. We are going to put America first, put Americans back to work, and make Washington work for us, instead of the other way around.”
Jack Davis is an engineer, innovator and entrepreneur who founded and manages a manufacturing company in Western New York, I Squared R Element, Inc. He is giving the company to his employees when he retires.
The Jack Davis for Congress campaign office is located at 2275 Ridge Road, in front of the Greece Ridge Mall.
