About Western New York and New York’s 26th Congressional District
Western New York is a wonderful place. Despite the tough economic times we still have a strong sense of community pride, an optimism we learned from our parents, and a deep love for America.
Outside of our region, when most people think Western New York, they think of our big cities – Buffalo and Rochester, and they probably think of the economic decline that has plagued the Rust Belt in recent decades.
Great names like Eastman Kodak, Xerox, Bausch and Lomb, Bethlehem Steel, Westinghouse, and Trico have all downsized or shut down. Where once you would hear the clang and clatter of industry, the rumble of trucks coming and going from busy plants, and the whistles at shift changes, you now hear the whisper of broken dreams and see the shadows of what was once a strong economy.
While these cities are not within the District I am running to represent, our destiny is inextricably linked with theirs. People in our community don’t identify with a district or a politician, they identify with our community of Western New York, and they know we are all in the same boat – tired of the typical politicians, and hungry for change.
The 26th District is nestled between the cities of Rochester and Buffalo. It has the Western suburbs of Monroe County, the Southern towns of Orleans County, the Southeastern towns of Niagara County and the Northern suburbs of Erie County. We also wholly contain Genesee, Livingston, and Wyoming counties.
These seven counties are all special and unique, but our people want the same thing. We have farmers and teachers, civil servants and entrepreneurs. We have students and professionals, inventors and investors. We have old and young – although many of our young people leave to find better jobs – and we love our sports, our outdoors, and our neighbors.
We produce apples, corn, milk and other dairy products. What we make we sell here, across the country, and around the world. We live the American Dream and we want a better future for ourselves and future generations.
It’s a beautiful place that I am proud to call home, and a place I would be proud to represent in Congress. If you live in the district, I ask you to consider my candidacy and to join the campaign to save American jobs. If you don’t live in the district, feel free to come on by. We’re open for business and would love have you.
