Jack Davis: Saving American Jobs, Standing up to Special Interests
Williamsville, NY: Akron Industrialist Jack Davis (D), the President of I Squared R Element Company, criticized the Republican policies responsible for sending American jobs offshore at the Amherst Town Hall.
“Chris Lee and John McCain talk about globalization as if it’s a good thing for American workers. They’re both out of touch. For more than a decade we have been sold the line that our trade policies, influenced by special interest money, are good for our economy. Enough is enough. People are forced to trade in manufacturing jobs for retail jobs. Many people are working multiple jobs to make ends meet. This is wrong and I will fight to change it.
“The Department of Labor announced that unemployment has reached 6.1 percent – the highest it has been in five years. Our fragile economy cannot cope with Chris Lee and John McCain’s free and easy trade policies.
“The choice is clear: more of the same me-first, country-second economics that have sent energy and food prices souring, or we can work together to free our government from the grip of the special interests and politicians.
“While Chris Lee went to Washington to collect his money and marching orders from the congressional Republicans, I have challenged everyone running for this office to reject that money and vote for our interests here in Western New York. If you don’t take their money, you don’t have to take their calls.”
